The government are set to miss even their own inadequate housebuilding target by a big margin – John Healey
John Healey MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Housing, responding to today’s official housebuilding figures, said:
“These are another set of deeply disappointing housebuilding figures, and show that Ministers must do better. They confirm that we are now most of the way through a lost decade of low housebuilding under the Conservatives.
“The government are set to miss even their own inadequate housebuilding target by a big margin.
“After the independent Office for Budget Responsibility said, yesterday’s Autumn Statement will actually reduce the number of new homes being built over the next five years, Ministers need to get a grip. If they don’t, six years of failure on housebuilding will stretch to ten”.
